Windmills | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
WINDMILLS (counter-clockwise) for clockwise windmills just switch right/left and left/right The easiest starting position is sitting down with your left leg bent with your foot flat on da floor and knee pointed up. Your right leg should be straight. Put your right hand flat on the floor and just leave it there. (you dont really use it that much) Put your left hand flat on da floor with you elbow over your belly button. The only things touching should be your right and left hands, your left foot, and the side of your right foot (not your whole right leg). Now stab your left elbow in your stomach near your belly button. Then lower your left shoulder to the floor. At the same time throw your left leg (which should still be bent) in the air. (all your weight is going to be on your left elbow) Once youve done that, sweep your right leg low then high. When your right leg starts to sweep high, straighten your left leg and roll on to the back of your left shoulder. (this is where youll start to get bruises on your shoulders and hips.) Heres the hard part. Youre going to have to roll from your left shoulder, to your lower neck, then on to your right shoulder. IMPORTANT!!! When your on your upper back and shoulders, tighten your legs a bit but not too much. This will help your legs not to hit the ground. Also, get your hands ready to catch yourself. Keep practicing different forms and techniques of windmills so youll have your own style. Dont try to do more mills till you got your starting down. Once you get good at them, then you can try windmills without hands. Just keep on practicing and youll get.
Flares | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
FLARES (counter-clockwise) Best starting position is legs spread, left leg bent a little, right leg straight. Put down your left hand. (its gonna be holding all your weight for a second) Then kick your left leg low sweeping your right ankle. Once you left leg gets to your right ankle, throw your right leg high in the air and very quickly put your right arm down to help hold you up. IMPORTANT!!! Do Not throw your left leg up yet. Both of your legs are NEVER going to be up at the same time. Your LEFT leg is going to swing LOW THEN HIGH. Your RIGHT leg is going to swing HIGH THEN LOW. Your left leg is never going to stop in tha beginning. Its going to stay low while your right leg is high. Then when your right leg gets high, your going to throw your left leg up. And at the same time your going to swing your right leg low. When your right leg gets almost to your left arm, pick up your left arm and finish through with your right leg. Then pull your left leg back behind you and put your left arm back down. To do more flares just keep your hip up high and remember that faster flares require more momentum and contol. Slower flares require more strength and less momentum. So faster flares are usualy easier,BUT YOU MOST HAVE CONTROL.
